The most important rule after Neck and Jawline Tightening RF is simple: for the first 48 to 72 hours, avoid heat, heavy exercise, and direct sun. This is a 45-minute, $200 session that uses radio frequency energy to firm the look of loose skin and soften the look of a double chin or sagging neck, so the first few days matter. Here in Fair Oaks, our sun is persistent and our summers run hot and dry, so protecting your skin right away helps you get the most out of your non surgical jawline lift results.
First 24 to 48 hours: calm skin first, then let the tightening build
Right after jawline tightening RF, I want you thinking “cool, clean, gentle.” Mild warmth in the skin can happen, and some people see mild swelling or tenderness. That’s not the moment to push your system with heat or sweat.
My 24 to 48-hour do and don’t checklist
- Do cleanse gently with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser.
- Do moisturize with something calming and fragrance-free.
- Do keep hands off the area. No rubbing, scraping, or “checking it” in the mirror every hour.
- Don’t take hot showers, sit in a sauna, or use a steam room for 48 to 72 hours.
- Don’t do strenuous workouts for 48 to 72 hours. Sweating and heat tend to make swelling linger.
- Don’t drink alcohol for 48 to 72 hours if you’re prone to puffiness or bruising.
If you’re an outdoors person or you commute and you’re in and out of the sun, treat these first couple days like a “recovery window.” Skip midday outdoor workouts and river-side chores. If you want movement, I’m all for an easy, shaded walk. The American River Parkway is a great option, just keep it low-impact and protect your skin.
One reason I’m strict about this is what I see in my practice every day. People do better when they let the body settle first, then build. A client once told me, “It hasn’t been an easy ride but going to rema for post op massages has been so helpful during this healing process, ” and that mindset applies here too. You don’t have to suffer to get results, but you do have to protect the work.
Days 3 to 7: how to avoid “undoing” neck and jowl tightening
By day three, most people feel back to normal, and that’s exactly when they accidentally overdo it. For neck and jowl tightening, the best plan is steady and gentle for a full week.
Heat, sweat, and sun still matter
I generally recommend staying cautious with intense workouts through day three, sometimes longer if you swell easily. And sun protection stays non-negotiable for 7 to 14 days. Fair Oaks sun doesn’t “feel that bad” until you’ve overdone it, and then you’ll notice irritation fast, especially if the air is dry or smoky.
Quick rule: If your skin still feels warm, tight, or “worked, ” keep workouts light and keep showers lukewarm.
Skincare you should pause for a full week
Hold off on retinoids, AHA/BHA acids, strong exfoliants, and aggressive treatments for at least 7 to 14 days. If you came in hoping for that “glass skin” look, I get it. But right now, your skin does better with calm care than with big actives. Give it the week.
The simple routine that protects a non surgical jawline lift result
You don’t need a 10-step routine after RF. You need consistency. If you’ve been searching “medical spa near me” or “massage near me” and you’re used to places that send you home with a long list, I do it differently. I’d rather have you do the basics well for seven days than overcorrect and irritate your skin.
Morning (Week 1)
- Gentle cleanser
- Fragrance-free moisturizer
- Physical, broad-spectrum SPF 30+ on the neck and jawline, even if you’re just driving around
Evening (Week 1)
- Gentle cleanse (no scrubs)
- Moisturizer, then leave it alone
- Skip acids, retinol, and strong “active” serums until your week is up
And hydration counts. If you’re also doing body sculpting or body contouring with me, you’ve heard me say it before. Your body does better when you’re consistent with water and not loading up on alcohol or salty foods while you’re trying to de-puff.
What’s normal after RF, and when I want you to reach out
Mild redness, tenderness, and a little puffiness can be normal after RF on the neck and jawline. Bruising can happen too, especially if you bruise easily or you’re sensitive. What I don’t want is worsening pain, spreading redness, pus, fever, or swelling that gets worse after 48 to 72 hours instead of calming down.
I’m in the Fair Oaks Village and Winding Way area, and I serve Orangevale, Citrus Heights, Rancho Cordova, Carmichael, Gold River, and Rosemont. If something feels off, let me know. I’d rather answer a quick question than have you guessing at home. If you’re already planning your next visit, I’ll also talk with you about timing and what makes sense for tighten jowls and neck goals without overworking the skin.
A quick note if you’re also doing other services with me
A lot of people find me while searching for massage places near me, couples massage, or facials near me, and then they start layering in results-driven services. That can work beautifully, we just space things out so your skin stays calm.
If you’re doing skincare services like a facial, acne facial, microdermabrasion, or anything aimed at glow facial or glass skin, I’ll tell you exactly when it’s safe to come back in. Same idea if you’re doing lymph drainage massage or post-op support. And if you’re here for body sculpting like body contouring, I’ll keep your plan realistic so you actually see change.
